NT Come Follow Me 9

NT Come Follow Me Lesson 9 Introduction: “He Taught Them as One Having Authority” What passages from the Sermon on the Mount resonate especially with you? What profound doctrines are found in this well-known literature? How can applying the Savior’s teachings in our lives give us direction, peace, hope, courage, and safety? Matthew 7:24–25 Why is it important that we go beyond knowing what is written in the Sermon to living what is in it? Personal Study: Living the Savior’s teachings can help me become like Him. What does the Lord want me to learn? Example: Matt 6:1-4: I want to care more about what God thinks of me than what others think. How and when does the Lord want me to pray? How am I doing in prayer? Examples: Matt 6:9 When I pray, I want to treat Heavenly Father’s name with reverence. Matt 6:10 When I pray, I can express my desire that the Lord’s will be done. NT Come Follow Me Lesson 8 Introduction: “Blessed Are Ye” Jesus presented His higher law with the Beatitudes. The Law of Moses would be fulfilled with His Atonement and resurrection. He came to fulfill the law and guide us back to heaven. The two greatest commandments in the law—which the Lord pronounced when He said, “Hear, O Israel”, are that we are to love the Lord our God with all our heart and everything we have and can give, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Our own souls can be peaceful when we develop a forgiving heart. 3 Nephi 15:2–10 Jesus also taught His disciples in the Americas His higher law. 3 Nephi 15: 9-10 Behold, I am the law, and the light. Look unto me, and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life. Behold, I have given ...

Changing our lives through belief in Jesus Christ and making baptismal covenants is a beginning of miracles in our own lives. Have you stayed on the covenant path? (See Alma 5) John 4:14 The covenant path will lead us to life eternal. Personal Study: Jesus Christ’s miracles “manifested forth his glory.” John 2:1–11 Jesus changed water to wine. What’s your perspective? Personal Study: I must be born again to enter the kingdom of God. John 3:1–21 How was Nicodemus inspired to follow Jesus and be born again? John 7:45–52 Do you stand up and defend Jesus like Nicodemus did?   John 19:38–40 Are you willing to view Jesus’s death and burial and pay your respects to Jesus like Nicodemus did? The Prophet Joseph Smith taught, “Being born again, comes by the S...
