NT Come Follow Me 31

NT Come Follow Me Lesson 31 Introduction: “The Lord Had Called Us for to Preach the Gospel” Matthew 28:19–20 Commission: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations.” These early disciples were able to establish roots of Christianity far and wide, and we are again commissioned in this dispensation to take the gospel to all the earth. Acts 17:16 When you are stirred by promptings of the Spirit, act upon that! Acts 16:14 The Lord has opened many hearts in preparation to be invited to accept and follow the Doctrine of Christ. Personal Study: The Spirit will guide me in my efforts to share the gospel. In order to share the gospel, we need the Holy Ghost with us ( Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith  [2007],  332 ). How did the Spirit help the early saints in sharing the gospel? Think of experiences in your own ministering, when the Spirit has led you to know what to say and do. Personal Study: I can declare the gospel in all circumstances. Acts...

NT Come Follow Me 30

NT Come Follow Me Lesson 30 Introduction: “The Word of God Grew and Multiplied” In both the ancient and modern Church, Jesus has guided His chosen leaders (see  Amos 3:7 ;  Doctrine and Covenants 1:38 ). Continuing revelation is a vital sign of the true and living Church of Jesus Christ. Are we willing to accept continuing revelation like Peter was? Do you live “by every word of God” ( Luke 4:4 )? Revelation is ongoing in the gospel that is being restored to the earth. Articles of Faith 1:9 Personal Study: “God is no respecter of persons.” Luke 3:8 What actually makes a person, or a people, to be accepted and chosen by God? Acts 10:35 If we fear God and work righteousness, we are accepted with Him. How do we know that Cornelius’s life was acceptable before God? verse 34 What does it mean that God is not a respecter of persons? 1 Nephi 17:35 Behold, the Lord esteemeth all flesh in one; he that is righteous is favored of God. Do you take the tim...

NT Come Follow Me 29

NT Come Follow Me Lesson 29 Introduction: “What Wilt Thou Have Me to Do?” Acts 9:13 Ananias was concerned about meeting with Paul, because Paul was persecuting the saints. (He had been part of the martyrdom of Stephen.) The Lord new Paul’s heart and the strength that he’d add to the Kingdom. Paul’s devotion, at that time, was unfounded; he was acting upon what he believed to be right. Acts 9:15 The Lord told Ananias to listen and go meet Paul, saying, “Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.” Paul was a great apostle or messenger to the world in proclaiming Jesus Christ and spreading His gospel. He continues to be today as well. Much of our gospel understanding comes from the writings of Paul. Acts 9:17 Ananias hearkened to the Lord and went to give Paul the blessing the Lord asked him to give. “And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brot...
