NT Come Follow Me 24
Introduction:
“Continue Ye in My Love”
John 13:1 Jesus knew His hour had come to atone for the sins of the world, as He shared His Last Supper with them.
John 15:10
Then and now, if we keep His commandments, we will abide in His love, and He
will abide with us.
Personal Study: I show my love for Jesus Christ by keeping
His commandments.
How does keeping Jesus’s commandments equate with love?
How has the Savior’s love influenced you? How has your love for others influenced them?
John 13:34–35 This new commandment is the higher law of Love. Our discipleship is shown in the love that we have for one another.
Personal Study: The Holy Ghost helps me fulfill my purpose as
a disciple of Jesus Christ.
How is our Father’s and our Savior’s love manifested to us through the Holy Ghost?
Why do we need the Holy Ghost in our everyday lives?
What can I do to have the Spirit’s influence more strongly in my life?
(See bullet point scriptures in the scripture chapters John
14-16 below)
3 Nephi 19:9
Pray more to have the Holy Ghost in your life and in the lives of those you
love.
27:20
Faith, repentance, baptism, and the reception of the Holy Ghost is necessary
for our sanctification, and so that we can be spotless before God at the last day.
Doctrine and
Covenants 11:12–14 Put your trust in the Spirit that leads to all
good. Seek and following the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Be honest, humble,
and fair; walk with the Spirit. The Father sends us the Spirit to enlighten our
minds and to fill our souls with joy. We can come to know all things through
faith in Jesus Christ, keeping His commandments, seeking the Spirit, and asking
the Father in His name. Moses 6:61The
Spirit is given to those who seek to abide in the same. It quickens our
understanding and makes us alive!
Spiritual Capacity
Personal Study: As I abide in Christ, I will bring forth good
fruit.
John 15:4 How do we abide in Jesus Christ? Since He is the Vine, how do we receive nourishment as His branches?
Personal Study: Jesus Christ intercedes for His disciples.
John 17 The Intercessory Prayer
John 17:20

through their testimony.

(See bullet points in

Personal Study: Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are
perfectly united.
John 17:11, 21–23 Heavenly Father and Jesus are One. That is what Jesus wants for all of us: unity, love, harmony. This was the characteristic theme of Bishop Lunt’s bishopric.
What can we do to work towards this kind of unity?

Jesus
speaks of many mansions—He says that He is the way, the truth, and the life and
that to see Him is to see the Father—He promises the first and second
Comforters.
Vs 1-7 I love these verses. We believe
in God as our Father, and because we know His Plan, we believe in Jesus as our
Savior. Jesus is our way back home. He came to prepare all things in our
behalf, so that through faith in Him, we may again become sons and daughters
unto God.
Through learning of Jesus and keeping His commandments, we come to
know Him; and in coming to know Him, we feel more fully our Father's love, and
come to know Him as well.
Vs 12-14
·
John 14:16–17, 26
Pray for the Holy Ghost!
Vs 14 Prayer is important. If we ask the Father in
Jesus's name, Jesus will do it.
Vs 15-17 Keeping the
Savior's commandments shows our love for Him. When we do, He prays to the
Father for us; and the Father will send us the Holy Ghost, that He may abide
with us forever.
Vs 18 Jesus does not
leave us comfortless. To this I can testify. He is the Second Comforter, and He
comes to us when we are humble and it is expedient.
Vs 19-21 When we keep His commandments, Jesus lives in us, and we are alive;
and He is visible in our countenances. Because He is resurrected, we will all
live forever. The day will come when we shall see Him and His Father and know
Them.
Vs 23 “Jesus answered
and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father
will love him, and we will come
unto him, and make our abode with
him.”
Vs 26 The Holy Ghost will teach ua all things
and bring all things to our remembrance.
Vs 27 “Peace I leave
with you, my peace I give unto you:
not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” .This is a meaningful scripture. I am thankful for the peace
that Jesus gives us, both through the Spirit and through His presence.

Jesus is
the vine; His disciples are the branches—He discourses on the perfect law of
love—His servants have been chosen and ordained by Him—The world hates and
fights true religion—He promises the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth.
Vs 1-5 Jesus will give you the
nourishment you need to carry on the work that the Father has for you to do.
Find your strength, faith, hope, solice, and power in Him, the True Vine.
Vs 7-11 Our joy is found
in keeping the commandments, staying true to our covenants and abiding in the
Savior's love. Through Him, we can progress and bear fruit and bring more souls
unto Him for salvation.
Vs 12-14 We are commanded
to love one another as Jesus has loved us. We are His friends, if we obey Him.
He has given His life in order for us to gain salvation. What are we willing to
do to help each other on the path back to Him?
Vs 15-17 Jesus has
revealed all things to us, therefore we are His friends. He has chosen us and
ordained us and welcomed us into the covenant. We need to love each other and
make others our friends to, but sharing the gospel with them.
Vs 26-27 The Comforter was given as a GIft after Jesus's resurrection. One
of His primary purposes is to testify of Christ and of God the Father.
We, like the apostles, are privileged to bear witness of Him, both
because of the Holy Ghost, and because we have been with Him from the
beginning.

Jesus
discourses on the mission of the Holy Ghost—He tells of His death and
resurrection, announces that He is the Son of God, and says that He has
overcome the world.
Vs 1-4 Jesus warned us as
Christians that others would be offended by us because of our Christianity. He
also told us these things so that we would not be offended. We need to be even
like He is and pray for those who presecute us.
Vs 7-11 It was necessary for Jesus to go away for His
gospel to spread over all the earth. The Holy Ghost was then given to His
discipels, so that they would find comfort and have a sure witness of the
truth, as they follow Him in faith.
Vs 12-15 The Spirit has a special mission. He is the Spirit
of truth, and He'll guide us to all truth. He only speaks the words given to
Him by our Father and by Jesus, and He will show us things to come.
Vs 22 Though it's
been a little while since we've seen Jesus, in a little while we shall see Him
again. All of our sorrows will be turned into joy; and no one can take that
from us!
Vs 27-28 I'm thankful to know that the Father loves us, because we have chosen to love His Beloved Son and we
have faith in Him. Like Jesus, we came from the Father: and because of Jesus,
we can return to the Father.
Vs 31-33 Even though we may falter in our beliefs, Jesus
is ever ready to gather us. It is through Him that we can have peace and
security. He has overcome the world!

offers the great Intercessory Prayer—He is glorified by gaining eternal life—He
prays for His Apostles and all the Saints—He explains how the Father and Son
are one.
Chapter 17: Christ's
Intercessory prayer is powerful; and it is for me, and it is for you, if we
believe His words and do His Father's will!
